We tend to assume that we know how our child feels

Then we force our assumptions upon their intuitions.

When a child says they’re full and we say you need to finish your plate. Or when a child says I don’t feel like apologizing yet we still force them to apologize..

This is the message are we sending: do not trust your intuition. You need to rely on our assumptions rather on how you really feel.

Please remember, we are different individuals with different feelings.
